Heathrow Airport as you've never seen it before

Sorry for the rather long winded title but we think you'll find it pretty accurate.....

We somehow managed to miss this at the time - but the BBC has a page of stunning images of Heathrow Terminal 5. There are panoramas of the various sections of the terminal, as well as superb 360 degree photo-imagery, where you can zoom in, out and rotate to your hearts content.

Hopefully, all the ancilliary services around the airport will begin to offer similar services ie Heathrow Airport Hotels - they really give an insight into the place you are visiting.

Aviva International Match 2009

I am visiting a Hotel Glasgow shortly and have discovered the Aviva International Match - The richest indoor international athletics match in the world is returning to its established home in Glasgow for the curtain raiser to the 2009 athletics season, the Aviva International Match.

The country versus country format guarantees an ever exciting event to entertain the large expected crowds at the Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena. Last year saw an exciting win for the Great Britain athletics team which will again be pushed hard in its bid to secure the title again.

The format sees the best elite athletes in the sport – more accustomed to competing for individual glory – having to work together as a team and earn points for their country. It’s a situation the athletes and spectators thrive on – so expect a great atmosphere along with some world class performances on show.

There will be some of the best in the sport staying in Glasgow along with traveling supporters from all over the globe so make everyone feel welcome and have a fantastic day in Glasgow.

Hull - Well Worth a Visit

Hull is a UK town which has garnered a rather poor reputation. It was heavily bombed during the Second World War and the subsequent decline in industry hit the city hard. However, it has undergone something of a rebirth in recent years, and their football team Hull FC are currently in superb form in the English Premier League. The Culture section of the Hull Wikipedia entry can do the attractions of Hull far more justice than this blog. However, I am reliably informed that this is an excellent hotel in Hull for anyone who fancies a visit.

Hemel Hempstead Attractions

Ive been asked down to Hemel Hempstead for a few days visit. Having never been there in my life, ive been researching the town to find out what i could get up to whilst im there. The Wikipedia entry has been helpful (i didnt actually know it was a new town with a population of 80,000!), and there is apparently a nice Hemel Hempstead Hotel just outside the town. Hemelweb's guide to the area has also been a great help. There should be plenty to be getting on with anyway - ill report back on my return!

Navigating around Heathrow Airport can be an intense experience. It is the third busiest airport in the world, and handles more international traffic than any other. If you are looking for a heathrow airport hotel to relax yourself before or after travel then check out the link - you may need it!

Steve Coogan UK Tour

Comic legend Steve Coogan hits the road again later this year for a 40 date UK Tour. Titled by the hilariously accurate moniker of "Steve Coogan is Alan Partridge and other less successful characters", we've already booked our tickets for the Glasgow show and cannot wait. Heres hoping that we see the continual downfall of Alan Partridge, Paul Calf insulting students, Duncan Thicket, Tony Ferrino (works better live than on TV) and an apperance by Tommy Saxondale - a very underrated series.

The tour starts in October and venues are set to include Stoke-on-Trent, Oxford, Wolverhampton, Derby, two nights in Nottingham, Blackburn, Liverpool, Ipswich, Bristol, Norwich (up with The Partidge!). Other venues include Southend, Sheffield, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Portsmouth, Brighton, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Newcastle and Leeds. In order to avoid dissapointment we would recommend booking hotel rooms early (check here for some good offers) - especially in the bigger towns and cities. Brighton Hotels, Glasgow, Leeds and Norwich are all likely to be very busy.

The 2008 festival due to kick off on the 8th of August. As always, there is a huge range of events from classical music, theatre, opera and dance to the interctive entertainment festival . You can see a preview video here.

The key venues used throughout Edinburgh are the Usher Hall (capacity 2,300), Festival Theatre (1,800), Edinburgh Playhouse (2,900), King’s Theatre (1,300), Royal Lyceum Theatre (650), The Queen’s Hall (920) and The Hub (420).

Touring Edinburgh & Scotland

Whilst not enhancing your cultural standing, Edinburgh is a superb city with many spectacular visitor attractions, including this, Ghost Hunting and one on the world’s greatest golf courses. The people are also very welcoming and it is famous for one of the world’s greatest Hogmany parties.
