Rather strange is that grey hair and bold eyebrows are set to be in fashion as well as the shaved head, how about shaved head and bold eyebrows. shaving your head at the moment would not be a good idea, more cold weather is on the way!

Fitness

As much as I would like my girlfriend to take up pole dancing lessons it looks like that died with the Noughties and so far there are not really any specific things we can look out for when it comes to fitness this year. It would seem that working out in a group is going to be coming in this year.

Travel

The year where we all stay at home in our own country is over thank goodness and this year sees a large increase in a return to our favourite holiday destinations.

So although money is still going to be tight this year I think it is quite clear by the trends we are likely to see that as a nation we are slowly picking ourselves up from the recession.

The First Flight I Remember!

My name is James, and it's been quite a while since I had been on a plane. It was a really long time ago that I last passed out, more than a decade. It was pretty clear to me that something was wrong, yet I didn't feel or think that I was scared of flying, it just happened. Going back on to a plane was very low on my priority list, and decided to stay at home for holidays in future, may sound sad, but obviously it wasn't in the house. About 2 years into my marriage, it was time to face my fears and get on a plane, all that way to Egypt, a massive mission!

All I could do was remember moments of when i was on the plane and then waking up at the arrival desk... When I returned from my last holiday I passed out as well, however I have no idea why, and it was a while ago now, so I got a little scared! There was no way that my missus was going to let me get away from going on that plane. As far as i could tell, once i sat down everything was fine, I wasn't losing my mind, and my vision was going blurry, I didn't feel as though i was going to pass out or anything. Nothing seemed to unsettle me, even the noise of the massive engines under the planes wings didn't upset me!

I couldn't figure out why I didn't pass out this time, or why I passed out the last time, everything just seemed to be fine this time. I was actually getting pretty excited about my holiday now. I was really looking forward to getting to Egypt, and then jumping back on the plane. All of a Sudden there it was! Across the loud speakers, the Captain could be heard announcing that some heavy turbulence was heading our way. Things got really bad, the plane felt as though it was going to crack up in the sky, and there was even a light storm brewing outside. And then all of sudden it stopped, but my heart didn't. This was the only time that fainting would have been nice!

Egypt holidays turned out to be something I never returned to, next up was a choice between Maldives holidays or Sri Lanka holidays, both involve a aeroplane!

Some Essential Steps For Choosing Good Value Chauffeur Companies

Availing of chauffeur services is usually a great experience, and it can make your travel not only easy and comfortable but also secure and memorable. Be it travelling for a business purpose, to a wedding party or for a sightseeing tour, hiring chauffeur services makes the journey smooth and convenient.

While hiring a chauffeur is quite advantageous, engaging a good chauffeur service is very necessary if you desire a smooth and comfortable journey. The first consideration when hiring a chauffeur should be how credible and dependable the chauffeur is, i.e., whether he has undergone training, and has registration and the required licenses to drive. Moreover, one should also find out if the chauffeurs of the company have undergone thorough security checks. You must also examine whether the chauffeur allotted to you has thorough knowledge of the different routes in the city so that he doesn't lose his way while driving.

Secondly, one should ensure that the services are not unreasonably expensive and are worth the price. You should anticipate a whole array of services from your chauffeur company, which includes a reasonable choice of vehicles as well. Most reputed chauffeur services offer transfers to and from railway station and airports, sightseeing services, point to point drops, customized services and even chauffeur services for special events like weddings, prom nights, corporate events etc - take a look at chauffeur services london for further dails.

Whether needed for yourself or for your company, spending on a chauffeur service that lays much emphasis on customer satisfaction is always a profitable investment. A service that listens to and understands the needs of the customer is sure to prove itself worth the price.

As the crucial responsibility of your safety and convenience during the trip is taken up by the chauffeur, it is imperative that you choose a company that guarantees the very best service which includes everything discussed here.

Going on holiday to India, seems like a must do for everyone now!

If you have to go anywhere in your lifetime, you must visit India. There are so many different places in India that need to be visited that it would take about 6 months to visit every part and spend a couple of days there. However the most influential parts of India are probably Mumbai and Delhi.

India brings us some of the most incredible food, this is then distributed across the world, but tastes nothing like it does, when it's made fresh in the country it came from. There are millions of tourists every year that visit Mumbai just so that they can try out the fantastic food and see some great cricket matches. Mumbai has already made a name for itself in this world, and is fast becoming the most popular city in India, other than Delhi of course. It has become a clean and quite efficient country with quite a strong economic hold. Because of the improvements in Mumbai India has seen some great rises in tourists.

Delhi is a place of great religious bearing and has the second largest populous in India. In the News and the limelight Delhi has taken over the world as the most popular city in India, with key points in a Trade Route. Delhi as well as Mumbai has greatly increased in its technological advancement, with a stable transport system and some very luxurious hotels. New Delhi is the capital of India, and it is quite a prospering capital too. India may be the place for great food, but it's also the place for people with great intelligence as well. The most important thing for tourists is the wide range of activities available, things such as hiking, visiting museums, going to the tiger Zoo's and being driven around in some crazy rickshaws.

If you are interested in maybe trying something else instead of India, I recommened Egypt for great Luxury holidays, Hurghada holidays have really taken off, and so have the Sharm El Sheikh holidays, now becoming the number 1 holiday in Egypt!

Exploring Manhattan - New York

Traditionally a low-income immigrant neighbourhood, the Lower East Side of Manhattan New York today offers a multicultural blend of down-to-earth bars and trendy upscale boutiques. The area has in recent year gone through a rapid gentrification and the National Trust for Historical Preservation now deems the neighbourhood as one of the most endagered places in the entire U.S. So if you want to catch a glimpse of the Lower East Side before it is all art students and French cafes, this is the time to go.

The Lower East Side is where the New York garment industry began and it has always been considered an excellent spot for making a bargain. It is still possible to find great bargains in places like Orchad street but the area has an influx of trendy shops and cutting edge designer brands. The blend of old and new, pricy and cheap, immigrant and yet so quintessentially American, makes the Lower East Side a bustling hub that attracts visitors and residents from all over the world.

The Lower East Side offer great nightlife and Ludlow St and Clinton St are good places to start since these street have the highest density of night clubs on the Lower East Side. For those interested in live music, the Bowery Ballroom on Delancey Street offer up the stage for alternative rock bands and visitors wishing to experience some live punk music should definitely head for C-Squat. Live music is also offered in several bars, such as Cake Shop and Living Room on Ludlow Street and Arlene's Grocery on Stanton Street.

Culturally, the Lower East Side is famous for being a centre for the development of American Jewish culture in Manhattan NYC; especially during the 19th and 20th century. Today the early Jewish immigrants and their descendants have largely been replaced by more recent newcomers with different cultural backgrounds, but you can still find vestiges of the neighbourhood's Jewish heritage here, such as the shops lined up along Hester Street and Essex Street, a handful of kosher delis and bakeries, and the yeshiva day schools run by the Orthodox Jewish community. It is important to remember that Orthodox Jews will close their shops on saturdays and jewish holidays and you will have to consider this when you plan your trip.

Did you know that the legendary fake orgasm scene in "When Harry Met Sally" was shot in one of the eating establishments at Lower East Side? The scene was filmed in Katz's Deli which is located on 205 E. Houston St; and you can still visit the eatery for a bit to eat or simply to have seen the eatery with your own eyes. This classic delicatessen serves a celebrated pastrami sandwich and the brisket is also to die for. Between Orchard St and Allen St on 137 E Houston St the hungry visitor will also find a bakery serving "The World's Finest Knishes since 1910" - Yonah Schimmel's Knishes Bakery. This bakery is actually even older than that and has been selling knishes on Houston Street since 1890. It is now one of few distinctly Jewish bakeries in the neighbourhood.

Feel free to visit the museum in the Eldrige Street Synagogue which offers a lot of information about the culture, history and traditions of the jewish immigrants to the lower east side. Situated within the restored 1887 National Historic Landmark Eldridge Street Synagogue, the museum offers exhibits, guided tours and cultural events like concerts and film screenings. They also offer walking tours around the neighbourhood with guides that tell you about the neighbourhood. You can visit the museum for free every monday between 10 and 12 a.m.

Mediterranean vacation in Croatia

Croatia used to be a popular country for tourists before the war of the 1990s and people are now starting to discover its charm once again out you can still find cheap accommodation in Croatia and this is true even if you want to live right at the beach or in the centre of historic cities like Zagreb and Dubrovnik. You will also be able to enjoy a long row of different activities such as tours, beach sports and of the legendary nightlife without having to spend too much money.

Croatia borders the Adriatic sea; the part of the Mediterranean Sea separating the Italian Peninsula from the Balkan peninsula in southern Europe. The Croatian coast sports a pleasant Mediterranean climate but the winters can be a bit chilly. Tourist from northern Europe prefer to visit Croatia in spring or in fall when the climate is mild but not as hot as it can be during the summers.

If you are on a budget you might want to consider renting a villa in Croatia since this often can save you a lot of money compared to staying at hotels or B&Bs. If you spend the same money you would to stay two weeks in a mid-level hotel you can choose from everything froma house on the beach and Croatia villas to picturesque cottages and conveniently located town houses. As an added bonus, you can sample the local markets and experiment with Balkan cooking in your rented kitchen. A Croatian cook book is one of the best souvenirs you can bring back home since this region is famous for its time honoured Mediterranean cooking.

Some very popular tourist spots along the adriatic coast include Ploe, Split, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Omi¡alj and Pula. Nicknamed "Pearl of the Adriatic", the city of Dubrovnik is an UNESCO World Heritage Site located at the southernmost part of the country. It is one of the most prominent tourist resorts in the Mediterranean and a popular starting point for exploring the Adriatic ocean by boat. There are a lot of charter agencies in Croatia if you want to go for a boat tour in the Adriatic sea and the prices are low enough to make the charters a possibility even on a budget if you travel with a group that can split the bill.

Dubrovnik is more expensive than other parts of Croatia, this is true both for accommodations and for dinning experinces and entertainment due to the fact that the city is popular among European tourists. It is possible to find a few Croatia hotels that are a good choice for a traveler on a budget but a hostel is usually the best choice if you want something cheap during high season. Another cheap option if you travel in a group is to rent a low-end property.

Less crowded towns like Omi¡alj and Pula offer more value for money and have retained much of their village charm from the olden days. Omi¡alj is located on a cliff 80 meters up and offers fantastic views of the Adriatic Sea, the town is home to a long row of cultural and historical monuments, including a 13th century church as welll as the ruins of the old Roman town Fulvinium. In Pula you will also find the largest surviving Roman amphitheatres in the world, another sign of this city's historic connection is the fact that the city plaze still is in the same place it was during the Roman rule. Pula is a very old city, it was built by Illyrians about 3000 years ago and was allready a very old town when the Romans occupied it in 177 B.C. After the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, the entire Istrian peninsula was pillaged by the Ostrogoths.

Cruise holidays aren't as good as the good old fashioned beach holiday!

So now this time is approaching us and we need to make a decision on our holidays for the next year. January, well that is the time that holidays are on everyone's minds, this is where everything goes mad, and tour operators make the most of their money throughout the year. However two heavyweight holidays are going to be going head to head this year, and its sure to be a massive sunny brawl.

Cruises have become a massive holiday experience, all across the world these exotic and rather large cruise ships are transporting people around in style. The cruise ships have always been a bit of a fad, when they first came out especially. The Cruise ship was a massive phenomenon but it was very expensive, and the price hasn't changed much. However now things are slightly different and now people from all walks of life have this opportunity. Cruises can take massive numbers aboard there ships, even in the thousands, but because of their sheer size they can quite comfortably cope with this. Cruise ships have all that anyone could need aboard them; including theatre shows and even a cinema, not to mention several restaurants and much more.

The more traditional holiday is that one where you don't really travel that much, you just travel for a while in one instance and then settle down for your holiday in one location. Let's use the Caribbean as this example for the Beach holiday, seeing as there is an abundant amount of beach. There are so many great beach areas in the Caribbean, the best probably in St Lucia, Barbados and Antigua not to mention Jamaica and Cuba. Cruise holidays are very expensive, and although Caribbean holidays are still not that cheap, they are no where near as expensive as Cruise holidays. The only single disadvantage of this is that you can only see one place, you can't really travel to several islands?

So what are you going to plan for your holiday next year, Caribbean holidays also come in that crucial cruise mix as well, where as St Lucia holidays and Barbados holidays are great, especially for those that just want to sun!

Top of the list for holidays this year?

What is so great about Sharm El Sheikh and why would you want to go on holiday here? Sharm El Shiekh has been a massive contender for the number 1 holiday spot, especially for luxury holidays, but why is it doing so well?

Sharm El Shiekh has two reasons why people are so interested to visit. The main and biggest reason is the diving capabilities. Sharm has been spoken about by many divers as probably the best locations in the world. The first is that there are an unbelievable amount of Coral reefs in the immediate area, just off the coast in the Red Sea, somewhere actually in the region of about 250! These coral reefs are some of the easiest for divers to access in the world. The fact that there are so many different fish here, means that people can see something new every time they visit, there are actually about 1000 species here. This means that experienced divers can analyse a different group of fish each time they come here.

When divers head out to look for certain things and species in the ocean, this forms a new type of tourism named "Scientific tourism". If you have a deep passion for something like this then this location is great for those that enjoy a "Science holiday". There is usually a long holiday attached to this as well, and most tour operators are more than happy to help accommodate for this as well.

The weather is the next biggest point why this holiday is so big, people love warm countries. This is one of the warmest and driest places for people to go on holiday. This is one of the places in the world just like the rest of Africa, that receives very little water all year round. Sharm is one of the holidays that is hottest in the world, with temperatures reaching up to 38 degrees throughout the year.

Sharm El Sheikh holidays are great, they are even more popular than Caribbean holidays and Maldives holidays combined! The "3 W's" Wind, Waves and Wings used to be the only way to get to Hawaii before humans starting bringing organism with them. The wind carried airborn seeds and other tiny organisms through the air, the waves transported floating coconuts and swimming creatures, and the wings, i.e. Birds and insects could fly there brinign nuts, seeds and parasites with them.

Hawaii is the most isolated group if islands on the planet with the nearest continental shore being located roughly 4,000 km or 2,400 miles away. The main island is young in geological terms only 10 million years but there where other islands in the are before that and the colonization of the area by plant and animals had allready started when the main island was formed. Many submerged banks and coral atolls in the area are remnants of these ancient peaks.

Hawaii's remoteness has acted as biological filter since a population of a colonizing species here tend to stem from a very narrow number of settlers; sometimes just one or two organisms that happen to end up on the island and find favourable conditions. This means a very small gene pool with make it easy for new species to develop as every mutation can get a large effect on the entire population.

The ability to fly often makes birds the first larger animals to find new land masses. Some of them return to mainland or move on, but others stay on the island where they eventually turn into new species. Hawaii is as an example home to the Hawaiian duck (Anas wyvilliana), Hawaiian Goose (Branta sandvicensis), the Hawaiian Petrel (Pterodroma sandwichensis) and Hawaiian Hawk (Buteo solitarius). In the local language, they are known as Koloa maoli, Nene, Ua u, and Io, respectively.

One example of the many Hawaiian tropical flowers endemic to the archipelago is Hibiscus brackenridgei, the official state flower of Hawaii. It is known as Ma'o hau hele in the local language and can be found in shrub lands and dry forrest areas below an elevation of 800 meters (2600ft). It is present on all the main islands except Ni'ihau and Kaho'olawe is somewhat uncommon and can be hard to find. Ma'o hau hele produces large yellow flowers with a maroon centre that grows singly or in small clusters at the ends of branches.

There exists many endemic spider and insect species on Hawaii and among them you will find the snail eating caterpillar Hyposmocoma molluscivora, which is more commonly known as the happy faced spider Theridion grallator, and the tree-living snail Achatinella apexfulva. Hyposmocoma molluscivora is a type of moth and the larvea of this moth species uses silk to capture snails and then crawls into their shells where they eat the snail alive. This species is endemic to Maui and is known to make a silk case which it decorates with the shell of the snails it has eaten, it has been suggested that this might be to hide from their prey.

Sri Lanka, is it all that great - yes it is!

Ok I have taken this holiday choice for one very good reason. Travel Agents have estimated that this could be one of the biggest holidays of 2010. There are a few people that do not research a country they are going to at all, so this should help out a bit. This is where I thought i might be able to help by sharing a small amount of knowledge with everyone!

The flight to Sri Lanka may set you back quite a lot in terms of cash, but once you get there the prices are unbelievably low? You have gotta love how cheap it is. You won't need much money once you arrive, everything is very cheap, it's just the initial cost. If you get yourself a really nice hotel, you're in for a right treat. Sri Lanka hotels are well known for treating their customers extremely well. There is also a lovely chance for you to indulge in a safari, the majority of the time people like to explore this country, and this activity allows you to do this. If you want to try and experience a great time of adventure then this is great for you, safaris are available all year round in the jungles and rain forests of Sri lanka. There is a lot of ways for people to enjoy themselves on holiday in Sri Lanka.

This isn't a holiday without any down falls, there are a few things that you may want to know about it. You have to be wary of what time of the year you travel out to Sri Lanka, the Rainy season takes place from October to January. The rain is quite simply torrential. However some down't mind the rain, the only problem is that this isn't the nly annoying thing about Sri Lanka. Unfortunately the country is in a civil war (which is supposed to have ended) but things are still a little tense. The best way to avoid this is to stick to roads and stay with a guide whenever you venture out into the wilderness. Finally the Jabs, there are several injections that you must endure if you want to travel here, and that is one of the worst bits for me!

Sri Lanka holidays have become very popular, but if you want something more relaxing and less dangerous, you should try Maldives holidays or Caribbean holidays!

Christmas Travel Disruption from Eurostar

Eurostar train break downs, caused by the unusually severe winter weather, have resulted in tens of thousands of travelers stranded or delayed. Siz broken down Eurostar trains have resulted in as many as 55,000 travellers experiencing disruption.

Eurostar have reported that although their trains have been reliable for over 15 years the abnormally acute weather conditions in northern France have caused the problems that have been experienced. Eurostar say that they have identified the technical issue and that they are now taking steps to remedy the issue.

It is reported that as many as 2000 passengers were trapped in the Channel tunnel on broken down trains. Some spent up to 16 hours incarcerated in their train beneath the English Channel. Many had no food, no water and no information from the train operators telling them what was happening. Some passengers even abandoned their trains and walked through the dark, cold tunnel which runs for 24 miles beneath the channel.

Many passengers have expressed dismay at the way in which Eurostar have managed the issues and failed to communicate with travellers. There are several reasons for this, first and foremost is the cost. The price of getting married abroad is significantly lower than some costs of getting married at home. There is a bit of a big downside to this, and that is taking lots of people with you is a bit tricky. If small weddings sounds like your sort of thing, then a Caribbean island may be where you want to go?

These two islands are very well known, but they are perfect for weddings as well as just for holidays. Let's check out St Lucia as the first island to have a look at wedding venues. There are some great places for you to get married in St Lucia, not to mention getting some of the best spa treatments available. The Almond Morgan Bay Beach Resort has recently been refurbished and fixed up, and just to make this a little more amazing it even has four pools. There is 22 acres of tropical garden behind the hotel and in front is a clear white sanded beach. There will be no problem trying to find a venue for both food and drinks, the hotel is very accommodating as well!

Barbados is just around the corner, and the most easterly of the islands. If your thinking about Barbados, i would suggest that the younger couples should indulge in this. If you like to party right the way through the night, then this would be great for you. If you search for a hotel named "The House" you will find a gorgeous hotel to get married in, probably one of the most beautiful scenery's in the world. Seriously have a look at it, its amazingly beautiful. Most Tour Operators will arrange for you to have the wedding ceremony for free if you stay for at least a week! Don't worry about that food or that drink, the hotel is amazing and does it's best to sort anything out for you.

So weddings abroad, there is of course just St Lucia holidays or Barbados holidays, it all depends what you fancy!

Where to go to have your number 1 holiday? Try the Caribbean!

Right now we all know that the holiday season is bearing down on us, and we all want to get ready to book our holidays. So what is the best location for us to holiday in the glorious Caribbean, surely there is somewhere that tops the list for you. So now that this has been decided, which islands should you avoid and which ones should you try to visit.

There is an island in the Caribbean that stands out from the rest with regards to being the most popular. St Lucia provides a lot for people to try, ranging from beach holidays to safari holidays. What an island, filled with spa resorts and relaxing places for you to chill out at. If you want to sun bathe and get your self a massage everyday, along with a swim in the clearest blue seas around, then St Lucia is for you. This island, is known to tourists as many things, one of which is it's safety for families and couples. These hotels all receive some of the best possible reviews and all of these same hotels all have some of the most stunning accommodation around. Yes St Lucia, also has a Forest, and some hotels want to make your stay even more pleasant by giving you a free safari tour.

OK now for the place i would really recommend leaving, probably not the best option for a holiday. There is one island that springs to mind, and for one very powerful reason. Right at the bottom of the Caribbean, in a south easterly direction, you meet Trinidad. There us a very good reason why people are a little wary of coming on holiday to this place. Trinidad has a bizarrely high burglary rate and murder rate. Do you really need another reason to go on holiday to a different holiday. You definitely have to go to St Lucia!

So the Caribbean holidays are just around the corner, where are you going to go, how do St Lucia holidays sound, maybe you like the clubbing lifestyle, in which case Barbados holidays are the best option!

Celebrity holiday locations!

Ever wanted to live it up like a celebrity for a week or two, then why not try one of the holidays that they love so much! Celebrities do enjoy a good old holiday, and there are many places all across the world that they enjoy to visit. I am here to divulge some information on where some celebrities may go when they embark on a holiday!

The thing is actually finding the holiday that these celebrities are on? Let's start at the Caribbean, somewhere that you would expect to find these celebrities! St Lucia is probably the most beautiful of all the islands. This is not for the clubbing or partying celebrity, this is for those that enjoy a spa or massage. Amy Winehouse, here is a perfect example of a celebrity that you could possibly meet on holiday. The best thing about this is that she stayed in St Lucia for a while, and was happy for people to come up to her and chat. She made sure she was pleasant to tourists and also she even had a little fun herself.

Now the Caribbean - Again, and this time we go east to Barbados. Barbados is a favourite holiday location of one of the princes of the British sovereignty, Prince Harry quite enjoys a vacation here. Barbados offers everything a party going celebrity would need for a week or so. Its closest neighbours are China, Laos and Cambodia and the nation is a part of the biologically and culturally important Mekong River Delta region.

The vietnames highlands are densely forested and the lowlands are humid and hot, both areas are home to a large number of different plants and animals. Since the process of cataloguing the Vietnamese wildlife is still in its infancy new species are added on a regular basis. In addition to iconic mammal species like the two newly described species of Muntjac deer, there are also over 800 species of wood, 100 species of amphibians and over 150 species of reptiles to be found in this comparatively small nation, and the recorded number of plant species in the country surpasses 2,000. Click here for more info on tropical flowers in Vietnam and around the world.

The country is located in an area where the winds bring airborn seed from the north, south and west which has made this area extremly biological diverse and the forrest are home to a multitude of trees, flowers, fruits and berries. One of only four previously unknown large land animals to be discovered during the 20th century can be found in Vietnam and is a type of wild ox belonging to a new genus. Two new species of muntjac deer has as earlier mentioned been discribed in Vietnam recently, both of the new species was founf in the same nature preserve, the Vu Quang nature reserve.

Vu Quang is located in a remote densely forested part of Vietnam in the Ha Tin province which is located on the north central coast. The habitat consists of steep mountains covered in dense rainforest and served as a base for Phan Dinh Phung, the Vietnamese revolutionary who led rebel armies against French colonial forces in the late 1800s. The mountains in the preserve capture air from the South Chinese sea and is therefore very hot and humid. The preserve has a very wet climate with constant rain during the rainy season and a lot of fog during the dry season. All areas in the park is wet and slippry (algae grows everywhere) and it is therefore very hard to explore the park. It is so hard that not even hunters from the area want to enter the forrest.

A marvel of nature that is easier to access it the 30 meter high Ban Gioc waterfall the 4th highest waterfall in the world along a national border. this spectacular waterfall separates the Guangxi Province in China from the Cao Bang province in Vietnam and is located approximately 272 km north of Hanoi. On top of the waterfall there is a stone tablet engraved in Chinese and French saying that it marks the border.

Another fantastic sight near the waterfall is the amazing Tongling gorge which can only be accessed by going through a cavern from another gorge. (A gorge is a deep valley between cliffs, typically carved out of the landscape by a river.) The isolated Tongling Gorge is home to a high degree of endemic plants that can be found nowhere else in the world. This Gorge is said to contain treasure and it is said that locals have fond treasures in it in the past, this is due to the fact that it used to be a hiding place for bandits.

How to get around New York in style
Holidays,Travel,Travel & Tourism,Travel and Leisure,Travel leisure,Vacation Rentals,Vacations,Accommodation,Hotel Destinations
On foot

For shorter distances, nothing beats exploring New York on foot. If you're in Manhattan, the logical grid system with avenues and streets will make it easy for you to find your way to virtually any destination. You can walk about 1 block per minute and there are about 20 blocks per mile along the avenues. Also, why not do like thousands of resident New Yorkers and start the day with a nice jog? In the parts of New York commonly frequented by tourists, all streets have wide and smoothly paved sidewalks and there is of course also the famous Central Park.

Public Transportation

If you want to use the iconic New York subway system you need to purchase a MetroCard. It is still possible to pay cash on the bus, but only if you have the exact amount of change in coins so getting a MetroCard is recommended for the bus traveller as well. MetroCards are issued by the New York City Transit Authority and can be purchased from vending machines and token booths at the stations. It is also possible to buy the card online, as well as in many newsstands and grocery stores. You can find more detailed information at the MetroCard website.

By taxi

The traditional yellow New York taxis are famous world wide and few visitors come to New York without trying them at least once. You should only use licensed cabs which can be identified on their special license plates, tax number on the roof, ametal seal on the hood and stickers on the windshield, licensed taxis also have a divider and a meter.

Another alternative is the livery cab, also known as black car or car service, which is called by phone rather than flagged down in the street. You should always negotiate a preice with these taxis because they are usually operated on a flat fee price model. If it saus "Livery" or "TLC" at the bottom of the license plate you know it is an official black taxi.

Chaffuered car

An alternative to simply hailing a cab off the street is to retain the services of a transport company offering something a little bit more fanciful, such as a modern stretch hummer limousine or classy Lincoln Continental limousine. Exploring New York with your own driver on stand by for a few hours can be surprisingly inexpensive.

Rental car to drive yourself

For those who prefer to do the driving themselves, New York has a multitude of car rental agencies to choose among and many have fitted their cars with GPS devices that make it easy for you to find your way even if you've never been to New York before. This is a good option if you want to explore that state of new york as well as the city, ie. take a drive in the country side and perhaps stay at a B&B outside new york, or why not take a drive up to Rhode Island. If you plan on driving in the city, keep in mind that the traffic can be quite hectic and finding parking spots is difficult. Previous driving experience from high-paced multimillion cities is recommended.

RV Parks in California
Uncategorized
Los Angeles is one of the well known cities in the world. Last year saw an exciting win for the Great Britain athletics team which will again be pushed hard in its bid to secure the title again.

The format sees the best elite athletes in the sport – more accustomed to competing for individual glory – having to work together as a team and earn points for their country. The Wikipedia entry has been helpful (i didnt actually know it was a new town with a population of 80,000!), and there is apparently a nice Hemel Hempstead Hotel just outside the town. Hemelweb's guide to the area has also been a great help. There should be plenty to be getting on with anyway - ill report back on my return!

* Good news everyone - you can now keep up to date with Hotels in the UK on BlogCatalog - happy reading.

Getting around Heathrow Airport

Navigating around Heathrow Airport can be an intense experience. Titled by the hilariously accurate moniker of "Steve Coogan is Alan Partridge and other less successful characters", we've already booked our tickets for the Glasgow show and cannot wait. Heres hoping that we see the continual downfall of Alan Partridge, Paul Calf insulting students, Duncan Thicket, Tony Ferrino (works better live than on TV) and an apperance by Tommy Saxondale - a very underrated series.

The tour starts in October and venues are set to include Stoke-on-Trent, Oxford, Wolverhampton, Derby, two nights in Nottingham, Blackburn, Liverpool, Ipswich, Bristol, Norwich (up with The Partidge!). Other venues include Southend, Sheffield, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Portsmouth, Brighton, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Newcastle and Leeds. In order to avoid dissapointment we would recommend booking hotel rooms early (check here for some good offers) - especially in the bigger towns and cities. Brighton Hotels, Glasgow, Leeds and Norwich are all likely to be very busy.

Edinburgh International Festival 2008 - Hotels

Edinburgh International Festival 2008 - 8th-31st August

The 2008 festival due to kick off on the 8th of August. We grabbed the shuttle from Gatwick to the train station and from there a seamless transfer down to Brighton.

Brighton - cool hotel

Having not been in Brighton for around 20 years, it was great to return. It was amazing how much of the place was familiar-the pier and the beach had obviously made an impression all those years ago. After checking into the Brighton hotel we were staying at, we then headed out and had some fun - however as im sure you are aware, 'what happens on the stag, stays on the stag'.

Stranded at Gatwick Airport

The return journey was not quite as smooth-we somehow go split up and 7 of us missed our return flight to Glasgow! This was mainly due to one group taking an earlier shuttle train and catching the flight without us (thanks guys). Stranded in Gatwick we had to come up with a plan . Luckily, most of us had the next day off and we were able to check in with no problems at all at the nearby Gatwick Airport Hotel, where we had a much needed lie down and brekfast.

Returning to Glasgow early the next morning the general consensus was that everyone had survived and it had all been worth it. I would recommend Brighton for any stag party-there's loads to do and the whole place has a great atmosphere in the summer.

Next month-its my best friend's stag in Leeds!.

Norwich - Good family break

Ramada Norwich - heritage family break

Norwich offers a great relaxing family break location. It is located on Ingram St. in Merchant City; Merchant City is well know if it's bars, restaurants and clubs so it was perfect for him. And finally the price, it was only 59 per person which is very reasonable for Glasgow, especially where the Ramada Glasgow is located in the heart of the city.

Hotel in Edinburgh: Ramada Mount Royal

Hotel in Edinburgh: Ramada Mount Royal

Located just a short walk from Edinburgh’s Waverly Station the Ramada Mount Royal Hotel puts you in the middle of all the main attractions in Edinburgh.
